Earlier in the day, Turner Bowman had contacted a private party who was trying to sell a firearm online, a Phoenix Police Department news release reported. An affidavit filed in Jackson County Circuit Court says Bowman had tried to buy a gun from the same individuals the day before with counterfeit bills. When Bowman showed up at a convenience store to conduct the sale Monday, police say he offered the sellers just under 14 grams of meth in lieu of cash. The sellers called the cops. Bowman was booked in the Jackson County Jail on charges of delivery and possession of methamphetamine and unlawfully purchasing a firearm. He was later released on his own recognizance, jail records show. Bowman allegedly told police he wasn't sure if the drugs were real, but police found the white crystalline substance tested positive for meth, the affidavit says.
