So no, not yet. For readers who missed it, the incident was reported to 911 at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at Don Jones Memorial Park, which is located off New Haven Road in Central Point. Callers reported seeing smoke wafting from the park men's room, and Jackson County Fire District No. 3 responded with one engine. Crews were able to snuff the flames quickly, but about $5,000 in damage was done. An investigation showed toilet paper had been pulled off all the spools, draped and wrapped around the restroom like party streamers, then set ablaze. Because of the structure's cinder-block construction, it didn't burn through into the main structure. The toilets were damaged, however. The women's room had been similarly "decorated," though the toilet paper was not lit. Central Point police Chief Kris Allison said a 43-year-old man was in the area during the crime, but police don't have substantial evidence to charge him with arson at this point. "He is a person of interest in the crime," Allison said. Anyone with information about the fire should contact Central Point police at 541-664-5578. "We'd love to have possible leads," Allison said.
