"In the 38 years I've lived here, I've raked a lot of leaves," Hendrickson said. Folks all over the region who wish to dispose of autumn leaves might want to check the leaf pickup schedules. Here's what to do with all those fall leaves If you have trees where you live, you know why this time of year is called fall. In some Jackson County cities and towns, however, the fall fallout is taken care of. Listed here are local leaf pickup programs: Medford -- City crews will pick up bagged leaves left just behind the curb starting Sunday. Bags are available from the Medford Service Center office, 821 N. Columbus Ave. Limit is 10 bags per household. Bags should not weigh more than 40 pounds. Residents can use bags other than those the city provides, but they should be no larger than 30 gallons or 33 by 39 inches. There's no need to call for pickup; crews will be around neighborhoods every two weeks through Dec. 31. Crews will not remove bags containing branches, lawn clippings, garden trimmings, garbage or anything other than leaves. Want even more leaves? Bagged leaves are available for composting by calling 774-2600. Ashland -- No city-sponsored pickup operates here. However,Ashland Sanitary and Recycling Service will pick up bagged leaves for a fee. Call 482-1471 for details. Starting Sunday, residents can bring leaves to the Valley View Transfer Station and dump them in bins free of charges. Eagle Point -- Residents should place bagged leaves at the curb for pickup Nov. 4 through Nov. 25. Bags must weigh less than 40 pounds and contain leaves only -- no limbs, brush, lawn clippings or garbage. City employees ask that residents don't blow leaves onto the streets. Phoenix -- Lions Club members will pick up leaves that are bagged and left curbside. The dates have yet to be announced; notification goes out in city water bills. Rogue River -- The city has a dual system for dealing with leaves. Starting Sunday, residents can bag their leaves (garbage bags are fine; bags are also available at City Hall) and put them out for crews to pick up; call 582-4401 if that's your preference. Bags also can be taken to the city shop. If you've got a pile of leaves close to the street, crews can bring by a street vacuum that sits on a truck and sucks up the leaves. Call City Hall for that service, too. Crews remind residents that bags must contain leaves only; no pine needles, sticks, rocks or other yard debris. The program runs through Feb. 1. Talent -- Bagged leaves will be picked up curbside by public works crews today, as well as Nov. 3 and Nov. 10. Bags must contain leaves only -- no yard debris.
