Robert David Bixler, 33, of the 12300 block of Highway 234 faces charges of first-degree aggravated theft, aggravated identity theft, two counts of identity theft, four counts of first-degree theft, two counts of second-degree theft, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief and seven counts of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, according to an indictment. He entered not guilty pleas on all the charges Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court. Bixler allegedly stole the urology medical equipment from a Jeep parked at a Medford hotel after slashing the vehicle's soft top. A representative from Hitachi Aloka Medical America Inc. had traveled from Connecticut with the equipment, which was needed for a procedure at Providence Medford Medical Center, police said. After police arrested Bixler Jan. 28 in connection with the urology equipment theft, he was released from the Jackson County Jail the following day. Police said at the time of his arrest that Bixler was a suspect in other local theft cases. Bixler allegedly went on to break into a motor vehicle and commit multiple acts of identity theft Jan. 31 by using another person's identification at Walmart, 7-Eleven, Fred Meyer, Walgreens, Union 76 and South Valley Bank & Trust locations around the Rogue Valley, according to an affidavit and the indictment. After more investigation, police linked Bixler to additional crimes stretching back to Dec. 6, 2015. He was rearrested Feb. 2 and confessed to multiple crimes, the affidavit said. This time, he had been lodged in jail on $115,000 bail. The other alleged crimes during the two-month span included identity theft, vehicle break-ins, stealing a wallet, theft of a chainsaw and stealing electronic equipment and selling it at Picker's Paradise vintage store, an ecoATM electronics trade-in facility and Valley Pawn & Trading, according to the indictment. Bixler has other pending cases charging him with heroin possession and second-degree theft, according to Jackson County Circuit Court records.
