Rick Bohr, 42, of Ashland and Ken Hoffman, 46, of Redding, were wet and cold but otherwise appeared unharmed, said Shasta County Sheriff’s Sgt. Todd Larson. The men were in "good shape," said Dave Englert, general manager of Hoffman’s Viking Truck and Auto Dismantling in Redding. Hoffman’s wife, Neva, notified authorities Sunday night after the men had failed to show up at Burney Falls, where she planned to pick them up. The two were training to run the 2,650-mile trail that stretches from Mexico to Canada. They started their training run Friday at Salt Creek, Neva Hoffman said. No information was immediately available about why they became lost or why they failed to arrive at the rendezvous point.
