Court records show Eric Vale Henshaw, 18, the nephew of the 45-year-old victim, and 19-year-old Michael Lawrence Koch-Prosser, were arraigned in Jackson County Circuit Court Monday on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit abuse of a corpse, and first-degree assault. Henshaw was also arraigned on an additional second-degree assault charge, records show. Both remain in the Jackson County Jail on $1 million each, down from the original $5 million amount instituted on their arrests. The Mail Tribune has chosen not to identify the victim's name due to the severity of the incident and subsequent charges. Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center officials said she is still recovering from her injuries and is listed in serious condition. The charges stem from what Talent police are calling a planned attack. Investigators allege Henshaw and Koch-Prosser showed up at the woman's home, located in the 500 block of Talent Avenue, at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, falsely indicating they needed her help. The woman let the men inside, when they began attacking her with a knife and the fake gun. The woman escaped and ran outside down the street to Talent Avenue's intersection with Everett Way, screaming. Neighbors heard her screams and contacted 911. Police later tracked the two men to Tinseltown where they were watching a movie and arrested them. Police have declined to release any additional information on the motivation for the alleged attack, and a probable cause affidavit for the case has been sealed, court records show. Neither Henshaw or Koch-Prosser have any adult criminal history in Jackson County, records show. Both have preliminary hearings set for Jan. 12.
