Apparently he wasn’t. Does this number work in our area? — Susan R., Eagle Point No, it doesn’t. Some states use #77 or other dialing codes to reach the nearest state police or highway patrol dispatch center, but Oregon doesn’t have such a code, said Sandy Pickle, a regional supervisor for Oregon State Police dispatch services. Motorists on Oregon’s highways who need to get in touch with state police immediately should call 9-1-1 and tell the operator where they are, Pickle said.
