On May 27, the owner of a local construction company discovered two handguns and ammunition had been stolen from his business. The suspect, Gary Biswell, was an employee at the time but had not returned to work since the theft of the handguns. On July 22, Biswell was indicted for two counts of first-degree theft and two counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Since 1980, Biswell has had 40 arrests with convictions for first-degree burglary, second-degree theft, resisting arrest, fourth-degree assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, first-degree criminal trespass, first-degree child neglect and multiple arrests for possession of methamphetamine, probation violations and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to eight years in prison in 1981; 6 months in 1992; 6 months in 1993 and 26 months in 1997. Biswell is described as a white male adult, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 147 pounds. He has blue eyes and blond hair and has multiple tattoos, including a grim reaper on his abdomen; a woman with bird wings on his back, a skull with horns on his chest, an eagle on his left forearm, a peacock on his right forearm and two dice on his upper right arm.
