Matchett converted 22 of 41 swings for a .366 efficiency, while senior Kacee Jacobsen (9 kills) and junior middle Lindsey Aitchison (8 kills) helped the second-seeded Raiders (22-5) topple No. 5 draw Orediggers (20-16). Setter Dani Arlyn compiled 43 assists and a team-best 12 digs. SOU would earn a Saturday semifinal berth with a win against its other pool opponent, No. 4 Montana-Western, today at 4:30 p.m. Men’s Basketball CASCADE 94, SOUTHERN OREGON 93 — At Klamath Falls, senior center Matt Evers’ lay-in with 10 seconds remaining lifted Cascade College to the first round victory in the Cascade Conference Tip-Off Tournament. The Raiders (1-2) battled back from a 70-60 second-half deficit to take a 92-89 lead with 1:18 left. Zac Olson’s free throw with 17 ticks remaining gave SOU a 93-92 advantage. For the first time in over a decade, three Southern players finished with over 20 points in the same game: Olson (23), Ryan Gabel (21) and Jared Abell (21). In other tournament games, Concordia edged Albertson 80-79, Evergreen State defeated Northwest College 76-69 and host Oregon Tech rolled past Western Baptist, 85-79.
