Officials said that three passengers aboard the plane died in the crash, while the other three people who died were inside the house at the time of impact and subsequent explosion. Two other houses in the neighborhood were also damaged. QUOTE OF NOTE “This is a historic fire, what we as firefighters would call a career fire. It’s huge,” Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman David Ortiz told NBC News on Monday, after an enormous fire destroyed a downtown apartment complex that was under construction. The fire was so large that it cracked the windows of adjacent buildings, and authorities had to shut down portions of major freeways in the area during rush hour. Fire Captain Jaime Moore told The Los Angeles Times that the incident was being investigated as a possible criminal act. HOT VIDEO: Scientists open Egyptian coffin in Chicago Scientists opened the sarcophagus of a 2,500-year-old mummy on Friday, uncovering the remains of a 14-year-old teen at the Field Museum in Chicago. The scientists worked carefully in a humidity-controlled lab to remove the lid before they could see their first glimpse of Minardis, the son of a priest.
