By Nick Morgan February 06. 2016 11:57AM California man arraigned in Medford boat theft A California man was extradited to Jackson County last week to face charges he stole and stripped fishing boats. Dennis Victor Lindsay, 37, of the 1300 block of Leaning Oak Drive, Brentwood, Calif., was arraigned Friday on felony charges related to the July theft of two custom Willie Raptor fishing boats, each valued at about $40,000. He faces charges with David Wayne Anderson, 37, of the 800 block of Lawnsdale Road, Medford. The boats, one a 22-footer and the other 25-feet, were reported stolen July 23 from Willie Boats in Central Point. The boats were located days after the theft, but both had been stripped and were missing engines, all electronic components and other valuable equipment, causing close to $20,000 in damage to each watercraft. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol troopers first tied Lindsay to the charges following a traffic stop for a domestic dispute July 24 at the side of the freeway on I-5 near California State Route 96. Lindsay and a woman were reportedly seen arguing at the side of the road on Interstate 5 near the Klamath River exit, standing next to a parked white GMC pickup towing an enclosed trailer. The trooper initially let the couple go, and shortly afterward dispatchers learned the trailer's North Dakota license plate was flagged as stolen, leading police to chase them down. A subsequent search of the trailer turned up Mercury and Yamaha boat motors and marine electronics and other equipment traced back to the stolen boats. Surveillance video captured at Willie Boats also allegedly tied the white pickup to one of the boat thefts. Lindsay entered not guilty pleas at an initial court appearance Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court on two felony counts of first-degree aggravated theft, two felony counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle and one count of first-degree criminal mischief. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail Thursday and had been released as of Saturday. His next court date is scheduled for Feb. 16. Anderson faces felony charges of first-degree aggravated theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, first-degree criminal mischief, felon in possession of a firearm and first-degree theft in the case.
