The short answer is that coho and silver are different names for the same beast, Margaret. Ditto with king salmon and chinook salmon, which are two names for the same fish. While they can be used interchangeably, one’s popularity over the other is primarily a regional phenomenon. In Southern Oregon, for example, they are coho and chinook.
