Crashes kill driver, motorcyclist By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Oct 10, 2022 11:52 AM A A Separate weekend crashes killed a van driver and a motorcyclist in Josephine County. [courtey photo] Two deadly crashes over the weekend in Josephine County resulted in the deaths of a van driver and a motorcyclist. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded at 3 p.m. Friday to a single vehicle crash in the 2200 block of Laurel Road outside Cave Junction. A preliminary investigation showed a silver Ford Freestar van driven by Jason Myers, 23, of Grants Pass left the road and struck a tree. The cause of the vehicle leaving the road is unknown, OSP said Monday. Myers was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased, OSP said. Laurel Road was closed for approximately two hours while troopers investigated the scene, OSP said. Illinois Valley Fire District, American Medical Response Josephine County and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded Saturday evening to a fatal crash involving a single motorcycle. The crash occurred in the 4100 block of Lakeshore Drive east of Selma, the fire district said. Information about the deceased has not yet been released.
