CRIME One arrested, one at large after Ashland assault Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Feb. 21, 2015 at 8:13 PM Posted Feb. 21, 2015 at 8:13 PM » Social News ASHLAND — Police arrested one man and are searching for another in connection with an assault late Friday night at the Clay Street Overpass in Ashland. According to an Ashland Police Department news release, officers responding right around midnight to a reported assault at the overpass learned that two transient men had just attacked a woman there, kicking her and hitting her over the head with a beer bottle. Police say the woman was taken to Ashland Community Hospital and left after a short stay. Police say further investigation identified the suspects as Marcus Dwayne Harper, 23, and Kenneth Dale Warhurst, 26. Harper was arrested Saturday by the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety after he was spotted there by an off-duty Ashland police officer in Grants Pass. He was booked in the Jackson County Jail on a charge of third-degree assault, with bail set at $25,000. Police believe Warhurst has fled the area, and are asking anybody with information about the case or Warhurst's whereabouts to call the Ashland Police Department at  541-488-2211.
