O’Brien, teammate Sarah Brown and Crater’s Janelle Stoner will join 13 returners from a squad that almost made the Cascade Conference playoffs in 2005. O’Brien was the Class 3A/2A/1A District 6 co-player of the year last season. She had 18 goals and five assists in helping the Challengers reach the second round of the state playoffs. Brown, a four-year starter for Cascade Christian, will play either midfielder or striker at OIT. Brown had 10 goals and 14 assists for the Challengers and was an all-district second-teamer. Stoner was a two-time Southern Oregon Conference first-team all-star. The senior midfielder was the nucleus of a Comet team that finished fourth in the SOC and advanced to the state playoffs. The three local recruits join three other Oregon high school seniors who have signed with the Owls.
