NFL Lions' Suh refuses to talk about incident Comment By Dave Birkett Detroit Free Press MailTribune.com By Dave Birkett Detroit Free Press Posted Dec. 31, 2014 @ 3:46 pm By Dave Birkett Detroit Free Press Posted Dec. 31, 2014 @ 3:46 pm » Social News Good thing he didn’t pull this in his appeal hearing Tuesday. Ndamukong Suh wouldn’t talk much about his one-game suspension or the hearing that overturned it on appeal during a 7-minute press conference Wednesday, his first public comments since he stepped on the leg of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers over the weekend. Suh said “next question” 10 times to nine different questions and insisted he was “focused on Dallas” — or something similar — on 12 occasions. He did not directly answer questions about whether he intentionally stepped on Rodgers’ leg, how numb his feet were Sunday — the defense he reportedly used in his Tuesday appeal hearing — or if he had any message to fans after his latest incident. “I’m glad to be back and absolutely looking forward to this playoff game,” Suh said. “I think that’s most important and I’m here to talk about Dallas and our preparation for that.” Suh took two backwards steps onto Rodgers’ injured left leg twice after knocking him to the ground on a fourth-quarter pass attempt. The NFL suspended Suh one game for the incident on Monday, but independent arbitrator Ted Cottreal repealed that punishment and fined him $70,000 instead. According to ESPN, part of Suh’s defense in his appeal hearing was that his feet were too cold and he could not feel what he was stepping on. Suh referenced his focus to Sunday’s playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys when asked to explain the main points of his appeal. Lions coach Jim Caldwell, who initially defended Suh without seeing replays of the incident on Sunday, once again declined to share his personal views on the matter Wednesday. “We’re glad he’s back. Happy about it. Excited about it. Thankful about it,” Caldwell said. “I do not, OK, at any point in time, bring my personal views into anything. My personal views might be a little bit different than most, so I don’t think this is the platform for it.” Suh, who’s been fined nine times and suspended once in his career, said he was “pleased” Tuesday’s appeal went his way. But when asked if he thought he was being unfairly targeted based on his reputation, he once again referred to the Cowboys. “Life is life and so you take it as it is and like I said I’m getting ready for Dallas,” he said.
