Second rape charge added against Medford man, 30 A Medford man accused of trying to rape a motel cleaning lady Monday has been charged in connection with an earlier attack. Medford police on Friday added new charges of first-degree kidnapping, attempted rape and fourth-degree assault against David Sebastian Pennisi, 30, who was already in jail. Detectives linked Pennisi to an attack May 2, in which a 20-year-old woman was accosted shortly after midnight near the intersection of Table Rock and Midway roads. According to police, the woman was walking home at about 12:15 a.m. when a male stranger grabbed her from behind and dragged her across the street. The victim fought off her assailant -- injuring her shoulder in the process -- and was able to flee to the safety of a nearby residence. Police now say that man was Pennisi, who was arrested Monday in connection with a similar attack at the City Center Motel. In that incident, a female employee of the motel was attacked by a male guest as she was cleaning a room. She fought him off, pulling his hair and screaming and kicking. Police arrived shortly after the attack and, based on descriptions from the victim and another employee, arrested Pennisi as he walked along the city's railroad tracks. Pennisi, of 2300 Ford Circle, remains in jail on more than $2.5 million bail. Mail Tribune Copyright   The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
