http://www.omniture.com --> Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Advertisement Email Story to a Friend May 23, 2006 Police nab men suspected of vandalizing cars Early Monday morning, Medford police arrested two young men suspected of shooting out the windows of more than 30 vehicles in a rash of overnight vandalism. Police received a report of shot-out windows in a parked car near Ashland Avenue and Main Street at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Mike Moran said. In responding to the call, Officer Dave Plummer noticed numerous other cars in the neighborhood with similar damage from a pellet or BB gun. At about 1 a.m. Monday, a caller reported a suspicious vehicle on Roberts Road near Crater Lake Avenue, where more broken windows, including one at a Dutch Bros. coffee stand, were seen, Moran said. Officer Rob Havice spotted and stopped the suspicious car and found the two young men inside had a pellet rifle and a BB gun. With information Plummer had given to his fellow officers on patrol, Havice arrested Alex David Martin, 18, of the 1000 block of East 10th Street, Medford, and John Lee Curtis, 19, of the 1200 block of Winchester Street, Medford, on three counts each of first-degree criminal mischief. In all, police took reports on 36 cases of BB and pellet gun damage by midmorning Monday and officers expected to receive more later. Most of the damage was to cars on Medford's east side between Main Street and Cedar Links, Moran said. The coffee stand was the only business damaged, police said. Police estimated the damage on each car ranged from $150 for side windows to $2,000 for windshields of luxury cars.
