Teen arrested for making threat toward elementary school By Mail Tribune staff Updated: May 03, 2022 01:00 PM A A A 16-year-old boy was arrested last Thursday for threatening violence toward Shady Cove Elementary School, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The threat came via the social media platform Snapchat, the release said. In the video, the juvenile made verbal threats while walking along Highway 62 near the school property. There was no lockdown of the campus because no children were there when the threat was received around 4:30 p.m., police said. “Upon receiving the threat, school staff were sent home and after-school functions were canceled,” the release said. The juvenile suspect was arrested him at his home around 6 p.m. and taken to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with first-degree disorderly conduct, police said.
