J.A. Churchill, state superintendent of schools, will speak on educational matters. State Dairy and Food Commissioner Meikle will explain problems dealing with the pure food enactments. Allen Eaton of Eugene will talk on "Household Decoration" and illustrate his theme with exhibits of practical as well as ornamental displays in the realm of art. In dealing with home economics, the State Architectural College has promised a speaker well versed in these important matters. "Shall Women Serve on Juries?" is a topic of the legislative department, discussion of the subject's merits being led by Mrs. C.L. Clevenger. "Medical Inspection of Schools" will also be in order on the program, Mrs. Noblit leading in the controversy. Mrs. G.B. Lamkin of this city has charge of the civic department and will designate speakers in addition to suggesting topics. In the conservation department, Mrs. Schieffelin of Medford will direct the line of argument. In the musical department, George Andrews of Medford will give practical addresses on "Community Songs." At the initial meeting on the evening of April 26, addresses of welcome will be made by Mayor Johnson, V.O.N. Smith, president of the Commercial Club, and others, the response being by Mrs. Canby of Grants Pass. A reception and serving of refreshments will follow. Meetings will be held in the auxiliary club rooms of the Women's Civic Improvement organization on the Chautuaqua grounds. An official program will be issued for general distribution at an early date. Miss Marion Towne of Phoenix is president; Mrs. C.D. Hoon of Medford, recording secretary, and Mrs. E.D. Briggs of Ashland, press correspondent. SAMS VALLEY The spelling match between Chaparral, Table Rock, Pankey and Pelton districts was won by Pelton. We feel that our small school did themselves proud in carrying off the banner.
