The Black Tornado girls posted a 113-108 victory over the Grizzlies, while Ashland’s boys triumphed 137-73. With the score tied at 103, North’s girls won the 400 freestyle relay to win the meet and improve their season record to 7-1. Melissa Gilmore, Erin Kulmac and Susie Eastman won two individual events each and swam a leg on a winning relay team for the Black Tornado. North Medford freshman Tolga Tokman remained undefeated in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 1 minute, 00.2 seconds. Tokman added a win in the 200 freestyle (2:01.34) and was on North’s victorious 200 freestyle relay team. Ashland’s Aaron Nelson and Travis Bishop contributed to the Grizzlies’ win with one individual and two relay victories each. The North boys dropped to 4-4 on the season. Wrestling NORTH TAKES SECOND AT GLENCOE EVENT — At Hillsboro, North Medford placed second among eight teams in the Glencoe tournament. The Black Tornado earned 138 points to finish behind only Glencoe (159) and ahead of McMinnville, West Linn, Forest Grove, Tualatin, Grant and St. Helens. First-place finishers in their respective weight classes for North were: junior Sylvan Ulrey at 119 pounds, freshman Chris Platt at 140, senior Jimmy Ulrey at 152 and junior Rob Folsom at 160. GRANTS PASS WINS — At Merlin, Grants Pass had five individual champions in winning the North Valley Invitational.
