She helped the Raiders to three key Cascade Conference wins that helped elevate SOU to No. 21 in the top-25 poll. The 6-foot-2 Portland native, who also received the conference player-of-the-week honor for the first time in her four-year SOU career, averaged 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in last week’s victories. The wins were over Western Baptist (88-76), Albertson (92-66) and Eastern Oregon (67-60). Magee-Arick joins teammate Sara Marks and former All-American Melissa Bogh as the only Raiders ever to receive the national award. The Lincoln High of Portland graduate went 12-for-17 from the floor, compiled a career-high 33 points and broke an 11-year-old school record with nine 3-pointers against Albertson. She also recorded her second and third double-doubles of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds against Western Baptist and 16 points and 12 caroms in the Eastern Oregon game. With 12 3-point field goals in the three contests, Magee-Arick moved into the conference season lead in the category (45), and into fourth place on Southern Oregon’s all-time list (101). In addition, she now ranks fourth in the loop for scoring (15.8) and 13th for rebounding (6.4). Magee-Arick has helped the previously unranked Raiders (11-7) to their best start in conference history (8-0) entering Friday night’s home game against Northwest College.
