Bulldogs qualify three for nationals CALDWELL, Idaho - The Medford Bulldog Boxing Club posted three winners Sunday at the USA Regional Tournament. Salvado Regalado at 125 pounds, Enrique Gallegos (147) and Mike Wilson at super heavyweight all were victorious in their title bouts and qualified for the USA National Championships in Las Vegas on March 10-16. Bulldogs' assistant coach Jim Pedrojetti was named the head coach of the Regional team as Oregon took the Northwest title for the first time in the six years Medford has made the trip to Regionals. Regalado, 19, dominated George Hernandez of Anchorage, Alaska to improve his record to 22-17 and qualify for his first USA Nationals trip. Gallegos punished Rusty Groat of Boise, Idaho, to a 5-0 unanimous decision. The 18-year-old Gallegos upped his record to 51-20 with the win. At super heavyweight, Wilson improved to 51-13 by dominating Brian Torzeski of Tacoma, Wash. It was the fifth straight time Wilson, 19, has come out on top against Torzeski, who is 32. At 119, Lionel Leon just missed a trip to nationals with a controversial loss to fifth-ranked Frankie Urrabazo of Caldwell, Idaho. Two of the five judges had Leon winning every round, but he still came out with a 3-2 loss. The Bulldogs' Francois Mancada, 112, also lost a close decision to Videl Paz of Caldwell. At 135, Lorenzo Rios Jr., also fighting for the Bulldogs, fell to Cordell Barber of Tacoma, Wash.
