[MPD photo] Thursday Aug 31, 2017 at 6:09 PM Aug 31, 2017 at 6:20 PM Local report Medford police are asking the public for tips in locating two suspects who have allegedly stolen purses and wallets from shoppers, then promptly racked up thousands on the victims' credit cards before they could be reported stolen and deactivated. More than $16,000 has been reported stolen from two women victims who'd been shopping at Northgate Center stores, according to Medford police Lt. Kerry Curtis. In each case, the bulk of the victims' credit card charges occurred at the nearby Target store minutes after their cards were stolen. The cards were used to buy large quantities of gift cards. The first theft occurred Friday at the Home Goods store. The suspects reportedly distracted the woman before taking her wallet. The thieves racked up more than $8,100 in purchases. The second theft occurred Tuesday at Trader Joe's, where the victim's purse was stolen. In both thefts, a male suspect wore a black T-shirt, pink shorts and a black Nike hat. He was accompanied by a blonde woman, who was also believed to be involved in the thefts. Anyone with information is asked to contact Medford police's detective division at 541-774-2230.
