Prep basketball Cascade Christian girls suffer first loss Lost River wins, 45-41 LOST RIVER -- Coach Loren King and his Cascade Christian girls basketball team knew the odds against going undefeated were long. That didn't make it any easier when the Crusaders' first loss came, a 45-41 setback to Lost River on Friday. "We played hard, we just didn't always play wise," King said. "We just struggled. Lost River did a good job. They were ready for us." The loss dropped the Challengers to 14-1 overall and 0-1 in Southern Cascade League play. The Raiders (10-4, 1-0 SCL) managed a 12-11 lead after the first quarter, then took advantage of a sluggish Challenger effort in the second quarter for a 26-17 halftime lead. Cascade Christian, plagued by shooting woes, could only pull within two points in the second half. "In the second half we started to put it back together, but by then it was too late," King said. "We dug ourselves too big of a hole in the second quarter." The Challengers intentionally fouled Lost River down the stretch and the Raiders obliged the strategy by only hitting 2-of-10 charity shots. Unfortunately, Cascade Christian was unable to take advantage. "Our strategy would have worked, but we couldn't get the baskets to go down," King said. Natalie Peck scored a game-high 14 points to pace the Challengers, with Crystal Tait adding 12. Tana Ross had 11 to lead Lost River.
