R & J Earthboring denied operation in California A Central Point firm, whose primary work is digging holes, will be able to continue doing business in Oregon, but the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration won't allow R & J Earthboring to operate in California for the time being. A release from the FMCSA's San Francisco office last week under the heading "U.S. Department of Transportation shuts down Oregon trucking firm's operations" noted the company cannot carry on interstate transportation as of April 24. R & J owner Larry Riggs said Monday that his company had turned in the required material, rectifying violations ranging from driver medical examinations to not having commercial vehicles periodically inspected, two weeks before the April 24 deadline. "We're not even hauling anything; we just have two trucks with augers," Riggs said. "All we do is dig holes for light poles, fence poles and power poles."
