Eight Dollar Mountain at Alex's Oct 28, 2011 12:00 AM A A Before taking a couple of months off to record its second album, Eight Dollar Mountain will perform at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Alex's Plaza Restaurant and Bar, 35 N. Main St., Ashland. The Ashland band plays original, high-energy bluegrass, complete with smooth vocal harmonies and red-hot picking on banjo, mandolin, guitar and bass. Because bluegrass is a music tradition in mountain regions, Eight Dollar Mountain got its name from a mountain, located in the Illinois Valley. The string band is guitarist and vocalist Darren Campbell, banjo player Stu Green, mandolinist Phil Johnson, bassist Peter Koelsch and dobro player Mark Lackey. The cover to the show at Alex's is $5.
