Taylor Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 14, 2016 at 2:00 AM Posted Aug. 14, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News December 29, 1939 - February 28, 2016 Allan P. Taylor, born in Medford December 29, 1939 to Margaret Laura (Bateman) and Clyde Samuel Taylor, died February 28, 2016 in Chatsworth, California. He attended Lone Pine School, Medford High School, and Southern Oregon College, and was active in the Medford United Methodist Church in his youth. He and his parents welcomed his brother, Jay and three sisters, Anne, Donna, and Kathryn (Kathy) into their loving family. As Allan grew, his passion for learning formed him to be one who researched, invented, and explored all life’s gifts. His favorite topics included tree houses, black holes, and neurons. Every conversation with him was peppered with trivia and seasoned with love, hopes, and dreams of justice for everyone. Allan’s peaceful demeanor and fierce insistence on justice reflected his upbringing in the Methodist faith which he gracefully lived out at every turn, enhanced by his passionate embrace of Unitarian Universalism. His dedication to self-improvement and compassionate presence was manifested in every relationship Allan embraced, whether a stranger on the street or a long-time companion. Allan’s bond with his beloved wife, Sookyung Ho, brought great love and purpose into both of their lives. Their life together was a source of heartfelt joy and an example of deep love to all who knew them. Allan made friends wherever he went, and loved to help those in need. Whether he was working in his career as a prison guard and parole officer, traveling to far corners of his beloved planet, or dancing up a storm, Allan both sensed and objected to his privilege as an educated white man. Allan lived every day with the purpose of using his privileged life to transform the lives of the oppressed and empower others with love and justice. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, August 18, at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 87 4th St., Ashland, Ore.
