The project's Citizens Advisory Committee meets from 6 to 8 tonight at the Winema Girl Scout office, 2001 N. Keeneway Drive, Medford. The Project Development Team meets from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Jackson County Parks Auditorium, 400 Antelope Road, White City. Both meetings are open to the public and will begin the process of examining design improvements for the Crater Lake Highway (Oregon Highway 62) corridor. An environmental impact statement, scheduled for completion by summer 2006, includes the corridor from Poplar Drive in Medford east to White City and complements improvements now under construction at the north Medford interchange on Interstate 5. Early in the development of the interchange project, teams also looked at corridor improvements. In response to funding constraints, recent case law and changes to Federal Highway Administration policy, work on a corridor design was shelved. The meetings will pick up where teams left off several years ago and will re-start the process of the environmental impact statement.
