WILSON CLUB IS ORGANIZED AT CITY OF SPRINGS ASHLAND, April 22 — A Woodrow Wilson league was formed here on Friday evening at the Commercial club rooms by G. Y. Harry of Portland. W. E. Newcombe as president and S. B. McNair as secretary were the temporary officers. A constitution and by-laws were adopted. Permanent officers were elected as follows: President, Professor Henry George Gilmore, who was referred to as a "former lifelong republican"; for vice-president the newly formed league followed precedent established in Portland and selected a woman for the position in the person of Mrs. John F. Rocho; secretary, John Rigg; treasurer, S. B. McNair. A goodly number of signatures were secured on the membership list, and these will be added to rapidly. To give an impetus to the movement, all present at this meeting were named to a membership committee. Various other committees will be appointed later on. The meeting adjourned subject to call of the chair. WOODMEN INITIATE FIFTY ON WEDNESDAY The Woodmen of the World will initiate a class of fifty candidates next Wednesday evening, April 26, at the new I. O. O. F. hall on West Sixth street, which has been secured for the occasion. There will be a street parade headed by the Medford high school band and the Uniform Rank Degree team of Medford camp, under command of Captain H. A. Canaday, followed by candidates and members and a line of automobiles. The members and candidates will assemble at the W. O. W. hall at East Main and Central avenue at 7 o'clock sharp, from which place the parade will start. Refreshments will be served after the initiation, the committee in charge being O. R. C. Grow, Burl Miller and J. C. Smith. D. J. Beakey of Portland, district manager of the Woodmen of the World, who is in the city, will be present on that occasion. Mr. Beakey probably will remain in southern Oregon, busy with the several prosperous camps of this district, for two weeks.
