When officers from the Medford Police Department served a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Mary Street, MADGE reported, 34-year-old Deleon Abdul Jabbar Hosley tried to barricade himself in his bedroom by leaning against the door. Police say an officer grabbed Hosley when he let go of the door and ran for the bed; a search of the room turned up a loaded 9mm pistol under the pillow. Investigators say their search of the home turned up more than 10 grams of heroin, 2 ounces of cocaine, four vials of steroids and two doses of Norco — a Schedule III drug that contains hydrocodone. They also found scales, drug-packaging materials and more than $1,700 cash. Police also arrested Leon Ramon Ireland, 32, after finding him and his 3-year-old son inside the home. Police say the child was turned over to the Department of Human Services. Hosley's residence is within 500 feet of Grace Christian School on Crater Lake Avenue. Police arrested Hosley on charges of possession, manufacture and delivery of cocaine, possession and delivery of heroin and possession and manufacture of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school. He as also booked on charges of first-degree child neglect, felon in possession of a firearm and resisting arrest. Ireland was booked on two counts of possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and first-degree child neglect. Both men were lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Hosley's bail has been set at $174,000 and Ireland's at $18,000.
