Johnathan William Bispo, 34, has been charged with second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, menacing and harassment by the Jackson County District Attorney's Office. He entered not guilty pleas to all the charges Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court. He has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for Feb. 8. According to an affidavit by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Bispo learned the teen was making suicidal statements on Facebook the night of Jan. 13. The affidavit said Bispo allegedly struck the teen with a fiberglass livestock whip — causing bruising and substantial pain — while disciplining the teen. He also allegedly put the teen in a choke hold, held a hunting knife to the teen's throat and said, "I'm not afraid to cut you." Bispo was arrested the following day and lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he remained on $200,000 bail, according to the affidavit and jail records. Bispo pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of intoxicants in 2011 and driving without driving privileges in another 2011 case.
