Lindsey Michelle Walker (Bills) Wednesday Dec 28, 2016 at 2:00 AM November 21, 1993 - December 18, 2016 Joy so abundant and grace that shone far beyond her 23 years ... Lindsey came as a miracle, two months premature, November 21, 1993 in Medford, Oregon to Brad Bills and Jennifer Durham. It was there she spent her childhood, growing to love the Lord. Through her precious time spent with God’s Girls, a small group of young girls praying and studying the Bible, The Lord’s love began to shine through Lindsey. She had a quality about her that brought people in, encouraged, helped, listened, and passionately walked alongside them. Her radiant kindness captured anyone in her path and showed them a friend who loved them beyond measure. She was always seen with her dolls as a young girl. It was only fitting that her first job was to serve as a nanny. She was drawn to young children and them to her. Through high school, Lindsey loved to be with her friends and serve them through her involvement at the North Medford Campus Life Youth Center. If the doors were open, she was there! Whether it was a high school club meeting, serving as a mentor and friend to the middle school kids, or being the catalyst to make a fun trip happen, she helped to draw many into a closer relationship with God. She and her friends would gather together, dancing as they sang the words to High School Musical, learning how to follow Jesus and laughing long into the night. Her laugh was contagious no matter your age or suffering and would light up the room in a heartbeat. Only she could tie together the love between a group of friends so different, yet all sharing the same amazing friendship with Lindsey. She looked forward to Saturday nights at the Applegate Christian Fellowship as she and her friends would enjoy a night of worship, teaching, and fellowship. She loved to be with her friends and so enjoyed the shared journey of growing in faith. Lindsey shined bright at two favorite places, Sunriver and the beach. Maybe it was because her heart was truly free to bike around the bike path, eat ice cream every night, and lay in the bunkroom with five of her closest girlfriends sharing dreams of the future. Or maybe it was because as the tides hit the shore the Lord covered Lindsey in his purest beauty to set her free with His joy. In all of her days, Lindsey chose that joy from the Lord and faithfully represented His love to everyone. Everyone was truly Lindsey’s friend. Her heart laughed when you laughed, sang when you sang, cried when you cried, and loved when you loved. In 2012 Lindsey enrolled at the University of Oregon and moved into the Trinity House, a Christian co-op for girls. Now, even with 45 roommates, Lindsey had this way about her that could pass on the light she received from the Lord to others when they were in the midst of a dark time. A light, that gave each one of them courage, strength and inspiration. On November 27, 2013, Lindsey first heard the word cancer when diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Now, it was that light she shone to her friends that shined on her through some of her most intense darkness. She would say memories come and go but the ones that stick are the moments when her friends and family surrounded her hospital bed and shined their light to her. Her battle with cancer was not her identity, but merely the thing she was doing. Lindsey would often say her identity never came from what she was doing rather her identity was in Christ. She chose to walk through these days with grace and joy in a time of pain and suffering. As the days got tougher, Lindsey’s true beauty and endurance shined. She impacted the community around her by never letting go of the light the Lord placed within her. Through her journey, Lindsey found the love of her life in Chad Walker. Their nine months of marriage was an example of incredible servant hearts for the Lord that were faithful in vows and love. Chad once described her as God’s perfect gift of purity to us all. What some people accomplish in a lifetime, Lindsey did in 23 years. Her joy will always shine through us. “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” -Matthew 5:16 A funeral reception following a private family graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. December 29, 2016 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2000 Oakwood Drive, Medford, Ore.
