River project seeks citizens with some watershed skills Volunteers with skills in watershed restoration, assessment and monitoring are being sought to help improve water quality and fish habitat in the Rogue River basin. The Rogue Basin Technical Pool team will consist of private citizens along with federal, state and county employees who will provide technical assistance in support of watershed councils and related state and federal activities, explained Mary Marrs, spokeswoman for the Rogue River and Siskiyou national forests. The group is being organized by the federal Southwest Oregon Provincial Interagency Executive Committee and the state's South West Interagency Group, she said. The federal committee addresses issues on Forest Service as well as Bureau of Land Management lands in the region. Expertise is needed in contracting, fisheries, hydrology, engineering, soils, geology, botany, plant propagation, forestry, wildlife, graphic design and artwork, grant writing, education and Geographic Information Systems, she said. Volunteers with experience in work crews and heavy equipment coordination are also needed, she added. Additional information about the team is available at www.fs.fed.us/r6/rogue/announce .
