Meyer’s two-out double scored Jewel Burgoyne-Russell, who had a two-out single, with the eventual winning run in the fourth inning. The Comets (13-14) tied the game 2-all in the second on RBI singles by Bayley Jensen and Emily McCollum. South pitcher Pat Moore (19-7) struck out 14 and walked six in going the distance. Meyer went 3-for-3 with one RBI for the Panthers (18-7), while Crater’s Simone Turituri had two hits. South Medford hosts Southridge (13-14), the No. 5 team from the Metro League, in the opening round of the Class 6A playoffs at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Crater will be home in a 5A play-in game at 4 p.m. Friday against Central (11-11), the No 5 team from the Mid-Willamette Conference. Tyler Rund was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs for the Cavemen (12-14). Lauffenburger allowed two hits, two runs and one walk in six innings against McNary (11-14).
