Paul Jordan, 65, of the 100 block of Northridge Terrace faces charges of second-degree assault and two counts of being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon. He pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court. A registered sex offender, Jordan was being held in the Jackson County Jail on $150,000 bail, according to jail records. On Sept. 26, Jordan allegedly went into the bedroom of his roommate, Alex Harrington, holding a crowbar and a large knife with brass knuckles for a handle. Police say Jordan intended to confront Harrington in the belief that Harrington had been sending sexually explicit text messages to Jordan's girlfriend — a practice known as sexting. After a verbal exchange, Jordan allegedly struck Harrington in the face with the crowbar, causing a contusion and a laceration requiring seven stitches, according to an affidavit by Medford police. Jordan allegedly told police he planned to confront Harrington with the weapons and he admitted to striking Harrington with the crowbar, the affidavit said. Jordan has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for Oct. 19 in the sexting case. In a separate case, he faces charges of possession, manufacture and delivery of methamphetamine after police said they found methamphetamine, digital scales and plastic packaging bags when serving a search warrant at his home in July. Jordan has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for that case on Oct. 26, court records show. Staff reporter Vickie Aldous can be reached at 541-776-4486 or [email protected] .
