According to a federal indictment, Christopher Alan Page, 31, stole U.S. mail from over 100 victims in the Grants Pass area between February and March of this year. He used the stolen mail to obtain Chase credit cards in victims' names, and then used cards from three victims at Best Buy in Medford to buy $6,957 worth of items, and one charge at the Walgreens in Grants Pass for $217. Page was indicted Thursday on charges of mail theft, bank fraud, aggravated identity theft and felon in possession of ammunition, after Remington rifle ammunition was found in his possession. A federal jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2016. Page has a criminal history in Jackson County. He pleaded guilty in September 2013 to charges stemming from a series of truck thefts that ended in a police chase in Medford. Court documents in that case show he had stolen a Chevrolet pickup near Rogue Valley Mall after abandoning a stolen Toyota pickup. During a police chase Page blew through stop signs and red lights at high speeds, and crossed over the center line on Columbus Avenue before attempting to flee on foot after reaching a dead-end near North Columbus Avenue and West McAndrews Road. He pleaded guilty to attempting to elude a police officer, three unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charges and two counts of recklessly endangering. He was arrested for involvement in a Jackson County mail theft ring in July 2013, in which Page and two others allegedly stole mail that had been left for collection. The charge was later rolled into the elude conviction, along with Josephine County heroin and methamphetamine possession charges. In Josephine County, Page was arrested on charges of eluding police on March 13 and March 17 of this year, and pleaded guilty in a March 27 burglary in the 200 block of Scenic Drive, Grants Pass.
