Eagle Point is in contention for bowling state title Halfway through the Oregon State Young American Bowling Alliance state championships at Lava Lanes, the Eagle Point boys squad remains in contention for a state title. Following Saturday's action, the Eagles stand seventh in the standings, earning the right to be one of eight teams still fighting in the championship bracket today. Rex Putnam tops the boys with a 6,070 total, and Glencoe (5,820), North Bend (5,788), Tillamook (5,532), McNary (5,480), Oregon City (5,437), Eagle Point (5,361) and Marshfield (5,352) are still alive. South Medford (5,293) barely missed the cut. Hidden Valley (5,146) was 11th following Day 1. In girls action, North Medford and Ashland were the second and third highest-scoring teams, respectively, to miss the championship cut. The Black Tornado's 4,620 total and Grizzlies' 4,587 points left them considerably behind Siuslaw's eighth-place accumulation of 4,754. Century (5,413), Hermiston (5,171), Roseburg (4,998), Grant (4,950), Rex Putnam (4,941), McNary (4,860) and Marshfield (4,843) join Siuslaw in determining the girls state champion today.
