Along with the bull riders — who statistically are 10 times more likely than football players to be seriously injured — competitors include saddle bronc and bareback riders, steer wrestlers, team ropers, tie-down ropers and barrel racers. Top performers from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association compete for more than $74,000 in prize money during the Central Point rodeo. Doors open at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday, with the rodeo beginning at 7 p.m. Special entertainers include The McMillan Family Trick Riders and JJ Harrison the rodeo clown. Kid activities include a Mutton Bustin' contest and The Boot Race. For music lovers, Blowin' Smoke will open for Chase Bryant at 7:30 p.m., with Bryant taking the stage at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the amphitheater. Billy Lund & Whiskey Weekend will perform after the rodeo Friday at the Rogue Saloon at The Expo. The Scott William Perry Band will perform live music after the rodeo Saturday at the Rogue Saloon.
