Michael was born August 24, 1959, the eldest son of Wayne and Patricia South of Ashland. He spent his growing-up years in Ashland. Although he lived in Colorado and California at various times, he often returned to his roots in Ashland. Michael is survived by his brother, Patrick South; his niece and nephews, Sophie South, Sam South, and Marcus Laabs. He is also survived by his older siblings, Cindy Ashworth, Wayne South, and Stephen South and their children. Other survivors include his maternal grandparents, Lois Brewer and David Fridenberg; his aunt and uncle, Michael and Betty Brewer; his aunts, Norma Veentjer and Shirley South; his cousins, Matthew Brewer, Kelly Moran, Zac Brewer, John Veentjer, Sharon Hutchens, Patricia Veentjer, David Veentjer, Mary Zollman, and their families. Michael also leaves behind extended family members and friends. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Wayne and Patricia South; his brother, David South; his grandparents, Eugene and Nellie South and William Brewer; and his uncles, John Veentjer and Al South. Because of Michael's love of animals, especially dogs, donations may be made in his memory to Jackson County Animal Services, 5595 S. Pacific Hwy., Phoenix, Ore. Michael loved and was loved by his extensive family and many friends. He will be truly missed.
