Hutchinson honored for career in journalism Peggyann Hutchinson, a former reporter and editor with the Mail Tribune, was honored April 29 by the Oregon Press Women for "an extraordinary career of extraordinary performance." Glennis McNeal, past president of OPW, presented Hutchinson with the Spirit of Press Women Award at the OPW's 50th anniversary dinner at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood. "With truth as her goal and accuracy as her by-word, Peggyann Hutchinson exemplifies the reporter in all of us," McNeal said. "She unfailingly carries out her responsibilities to the public, to her employers, to her community, to Oregon Press Women and to the National Federation of Press Women." Hutchinson, whose journalism career spanned 50 years, retired from the Mail Tribune in 1998 after 42 years as a reporter and editor. At the time of her retirement, she was the editor of Prime Times, a section for older readers. Prior to joining the Mail Tribune, she was a radio copy editor in Albuquerque, N.M., and a journalist in the U.S. Navy.
