Al Sharpton, the outrageously outspoken minister and civil rights activist, was satirized in a recent movie, but he can't remember what it was. We think your friend is right, and that he's thinking of "The Bonfire of the Vanities." Whether that makes him right could hinge on how the two of you define "recent." The 1990 Brian De Palma film was based unsuccessfully, in most critics' opinions on Tom Wolfe's 1987 book about lust, greed and, well, vanity. Wolfe based Reverend Bacon on Sharpton.
