Nicco Holt of Rogue River Fire District No. 1 said the fire could be seen from Interstate 5 near exit 45 and was reported at about 12:20 a.m. The blaze, which had roared to life in the 3800 block of North River Road, drew a response from Rogue River Fire, Josephine County's Rural/Metro Fire, Jackson County Fire District No. 3, Grants Pass Rural Fire and the Oregon Department of Forestry. More than 20 firefighters and a fleet of 10 vehicles — a mix of water tenders and engines — arrived to battle the flames.  Holt said crews arrived on scene to see the shop and motor home fully involved, and that flames also had spread to a nearby single-wide mobile home. The home's single occupant, a man, had escaped with his dogs safely, reportedly alerted to the danger by the pets barking.  Crews spent close to two hours fighting the flames. The piles of tires, rupturing fuel tanks and other equipment on the property helped the fire spread, Holt said, making the attack much more complicated. "That gave us a lot more to extinguish," he said.  No one was injured, but the home, shop and motor home were destroyed. "We had other motor homes on the property that were not damaged," Holt said.  An engine remained on scene into early Sunday afternoon in case any flames reignited, Holt said.
