Man arrested, woman injured in East Medford shooting By Nick Morgan Updated: Jul 09, 2022 11:55 AM A A A woman was taken to a nearby hospital, and a man was taken to jail in the wake of what police believe was a shooting stemming from domestic violence at an East Medford home. Joseph Shane Stephens, 55, was arrested on felony charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon on accusations that he shot his wife at his residence in the 2000 block of Lawnridge Street in Medford, according to a release issued Saturday by Medford police. At about 10:37 p.m. Friday, a neighbor called 911 after reportedly hearing a gunshot then a woman yelling. On scene, police found a woman with a gunshot wound, and Mercy Flights paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital. As of a release issued at 11:20 a.m., police say the woman is currently in stable condition. Stephens came out of the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. In addition to the felony assault and weapon use charges, Medford police additionally arrested Stephens on a misdemeanor charge of menacing constituting domestic violence. As of midday Saturday, Jackson County Jail records show that Stephens is currently an inmate in the jail held on the three charges without bail.
