Maslow Project receives $10,000 donation in school supplies By Savannah Blake Updated: Jul 29, 2021 11:58 AM A A Nearly $10,000 worth of donations was delivered Wednesday morning to the front steps of the Maslow Project, including 30 boxes of school supplies. With wildfire season and the pandemic hitting the Rogue Valley, Vianet Realty CEO Jason Smith saw a need. He reached out to the Maslow Project, a nonprofit that helps homeless youth in Jackson and Josephine counties, and wanted to find a way to give back to those in need. “With Vianet Realty, we work both counties, so we really wanted to do an outreach to give back to the community,” said Smith. Smith and Miss Rogue Valley Volunteer Hailie Kelton helped convince U-Haul and Staples to donate boxes, school supplies and hand sanitizer. “The school supplies are going to go out to 6 different school districts and it’s going to help a lot of kids,” Smith said. Maddie Fournier, a Community Engagement Specialist for the Maslow Project, said it was amazing to see the community come together to make a donation of this size. “We saw a huge increase in need after the pandemic and wildfires and the community has really responded and we really appreciate it,” she said. The Maslow Project is still in need of more donations and volunteers. You can learn more at maslowproject.com.
