Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Advertisement Email Story to a Friend November 26, 2005 Late burst lifts Marist over the Mustangs MURPHY — Marist scored three touchdowns in the final quarter to defeat Hidden Valley 36-25 in a Class 3A state quarterfinal playoff football game on Friday. Marist will play the winner of today’s matchup between La Grande and Phoenix in the semifinals next weekend. Hidden Valley held a 17-16 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Marist scored quickly on a 98-yard pass play from Kyle Haskin to Matt Frosland. Hidden Valley regained the lead when Ryan Van Cleave caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from L.B. Draper with five minutes remaining. But, just over a minute later, Haskin tossed his third touchdown pass — a 57 yarder — to give Marist the go-ahead score. Haskin went 13-for-18 for 336 yards and no interceptions, while Frosland caught four passes for 160 yards. Advertisement Tyler Sears added another touchdown with under two minutes remaining to cushion the Spartans’ lead. Sam Dollarhide scored from 2 yards out to give the Mustangs an early boost, but Marist rallied with two second-quarter scores — a 21-yard field goal followed by Haskin’s 1-yard scoring run. A 32-yard field goal by Jordan Nielsen knotted the game at 10-all at the break. Dollarhide, a senior, rushed for 69 yards on 27 carries and threw a 69-yard scoring strike to Van Cleave. Van Cleave, also playing his final game, had four receptions for 151 yards.
