The Medford Indians (6-1) lost a tight, 16-14 decision to the South Tahoe Vikings in the Junior Midget (ages 10-12) title game, despite Medford touchdown tosses of 20 and 40 yards from Jordan Ellis to E.J. Singler . The Ashland Bears (8-1) fell to the South Lake Tahoe Vikings in the Pee Wee (ages 9-11) championship by a count of 14-6. Ashland’s score came on a 25-yard scoring strike from Talon Haggard to Alex Murray . The Phoenix-Talent Patriots (7-3) were defeated 20-6 by the Feather River Tigers in the Junior Pee Wee (ages 8-10) title tilt. The Patriots found pay dirt on a first-half keeper by quarterback Dom Ralls after teammate Alex Hobson scampered 45 yards to the 1-yard-line. Former local standouts Ken Halpin and Blake Cam received all-Northwest Conference recognition for their work for the Willamette University football team this fall. Halpin, a junior linebacker who graduated from North Medford High in 2000, was named to the all-NWC second team. Cam, a sophomore defensive lineman who graduated from Eagle Point in 2001, earned honorable mention. Running Danielle Jordan of Medford led the Southern Oregon Sizzlers to second place at the Junior Olympics Cross Country Meet in George, Wash., Saturday. Jordan, who recently finished her junior season competing for the North Medford High cross country team, won the 5K event in 17 minutes, 32.40 seconds. Grants Pass’ Brittany Hodgson (eighth, 19:13.10), McKenzie Jones (11th, 19:26.70), Elizabeth Howard (20th, 20:19.60) and Annastasia Engebretson (21st, 20;46.30) and Rogue River’s Allegra Fety (12th, 19:29.40) were other local performers for the Sizzlers squad. Soccer Lucianne Crenshaw , a 1999 North Medford High graduate, capped her junior season at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif., by being named honorable mention all-West Coast Conference. Despite a knee injury that forced her to miss three games, the 5-foot-3 forward scored seven goals and dished four assists to tie for the team lead in points at 18. A four-year all-Southern Oregon Conference performer for the Black Tornado, Crenshaw helped the NCAA Division I-A Gaels earn a 9-9-1 record. Pat Lower , a 2002 South Medford High graduate, was named honorable mention all-West Coast Conference for his play as a freshman at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif., this fall. The Jacksonville native scored five goals and dished two assists for a team-high 12 points. A two-time all-Southern Oregon Conference selection while at South, Lower started 16 of 20 games at forward for the NCAA Division I-A Gaels, who finished 4-13-3 overall. Volleyball Jaime Herrera, a former North Medford High standout, was named player of the week for the Southern Region of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College. Herrera attends Clackamas Community College. Bowling Scharie Bostrom rolled a 727 series in the Invitational League at Medford Lanes on Nov. 18. Bostrom notched games of 212, 237 and 278 for the 727, her 30th 700 series. Robert Gibson posted a 297 game in the Tuesday Nighters League at Lava Lanes on Nov. 19. Gibson rolled 11 straight strikes before leaving an open frame in the 12th. Daryl Christianson bowled a 701 series in the Tuesday Nighters League at Lava Lanes. Floyd Kenaston rolled a 700 series in the Senior League at Lava Lanes. Harry Uhles shot back-to-back 279 games in the Buzzsaw League at Lava Lanes on Nov. 21. Junior bowler Traci Brander rolled a 225 game in the Generation X League at Lava Lanes.
