The agency is taking grant applications through Oct. 1 from landowners and conservation groups for planned habitat restoration or enhancement projects. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service made the money available to Oregonians under the Landowner Incentive Program, with the grants funneled through the ODFW. Examples of possible projects that could qualify for funding include riparian fencing to exclude livestock from sensitive habitat, planting of native vegetation to restore degraded lands or stream projects that remove barriers to migrating fish. Advertisement The grants require a 25 percent cost match. The percentage can be covered either through money or in-kind services like labor. To learn more about the grants and to apply, contact Patty Snow at the ODFW’s Wildlife Division in Salem by calling 503-947-6089 or e-mail [email protected].
