The Black Tornado watched the Cavers score seven straight runs to take a 7-2 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning in Game 2 but responded in resounding fashion with a seven-run inning to secure a 9-7 victory at North Medford High. Ashley Ripplinger got the sixth-inning rally started with a leadoff double and later added a two-run single as North Medford (12-1, 8-1 SWC) sent 11 batters to the plate. Tra Kucera added a two-run single in the frame and North got RBI efforts from Teanna Gonsalves, Mahal Miles and Olivia Lethlean. Kucera finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Ripplinger 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs, Lethlean 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI and Taelor Mayben 2-for-4 with two runs in the nightcap. In the opener, Lethlean was 3-for-4 with three runs and Ripplinger plated two runs as Sarah Thomas allowed five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in five innings. Brooklyn Hurd combined to go 6-for-9 with two runs and one RBI and Dalenna Bellum was 3-for-6 with three RBIs to pace Grants Pass (9-5, 5-4) in the twin bill. EAGLE POINT 26-19, ASHLAND 0-0 : At Eagle Point, Paige Leeper was 7-for-7 with eight RBIs in the Midwestern League doubleheader and Megan Ayres allowed one hit with a combined 23 strikeouts in Eagle Point’s five-inning victories. Ayres also combined to go 7-for-8 with seven RBIs for the Eagles (6-7, 4-3), while Samantha Thompson went 4-for-4 with four RBIs in Game 2 and Corie Dodge was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. In Game 1, Bailey Westrom was 3-for-3 and Miyah Smith and Gillian Willis were each 2-for-3. Gianni Pippa had the lone hit for Ashland (1-8, 0-7) in the opener. Hurd finished 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI in the opener, while Amber Taylor was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Kendra Hall 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Taylor Wallack drove in two runs for the Pirates (2-7, 2-1 Skyline). In Game 2, Makenna Page went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI and Taylor struck out nine and allowed five hits by Klamath Union (0-12, 0-2).
