A dip in local COVID-19 cases By Mail Tribune staff Aug 09, 2020 12:43 PM A A Jackson County Public Health reported four new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, the fewest amount of new cases reported in a single day since the county reported the same number nearly three weeks go on July 21. The new cases brings Jackson County’s total number of reported cases to 465. Of those, 145 are still considered active infectious. There have been 37 hospitalizations and two deaths related to the novel coronavirus in Jackson County. Statewide, the Oregon Health Authority reported another death and 263 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing Oregon’s death toll to 356 and the number of total cases to 21,272. Oregon’s latest death was a 72-year-old man in Multnomah County who tested positive on Aug. 2 and died on Aug. 6. According to the Oregon Health Authority, he had underlying conditions.
